At the Stephen C. West Ice Arena, all of our Learn-To-Skate coaches have been tested and certified to the Ice Skating Institute's National weSKATE standards. Nationwide, fewer than 300 skating coaches hold this prestigious designation, so we are extremely proud that ALL of our Learn-To-Skate coaches are certified.
Coach Chantal Coach Chantal grew up in Chicago and Mt. Prospect, Illinois, and took her first skating lessons at age 8. She competed in as many ISIA (now ISI) recreational competitions as she could for the next 10 years, and traveled all over the United States doing so. She also continued to participate in ice shows each spring at her home rink, the Glenview Ice Center, and was chosen as a special soloist in her final two shows. The shows were the highlight of each year for her, and she's excited to help bring the Breckenridge Ice Show to this higher level, and introduce the Breck skaters to the fun of participating in a show. As a teenager, Coach Chantal became very involved in team precision skating, and was a member of the 1995 undefeated world champion Glenview Junior Blades team. Coach Chantal first began coaching private students and teaching learn-to-skate lessons while she was in college at The University of Iowa. She has taught figure skaters from age 2 to 72, and is excited to be bringing this coaching experience and love of the ice to Breckenridge.

Coach Tara
Coach Tara’s goal as a coach is to help any skater be the best they can be, to help them achieve their goals, and to realize their true potential both on and off the ice. It is her belief and understanding that all skaters learn differently, progress at their own pace, and she always recognizes that there is something positive in everything a skater does. She enjoys every opportunity to share her passion for skating with her skaters. |
